The Harris Clash is an annual stock car racing event held in July at the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. It is widely regarded as being one of the best IMCA modified races in the country, drawing hundreds of cars and thousands of fans every year.
The Harris Clash was started in 1992 by Bob Harris of the Harris Auto Racing Company as a challenge to other racing chassis manufacturers. Not only is the winning driver of the race given national recognition, but unlike other major events, the car manufacturer is also given major exposure. The event has grown to include three classes: IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods (which is an entry-level modified division) and IMCA Late Models. In 2011, the modifieds competed on July 5, while the late models and sport modifieds will compete on July 26.

Famous quotes containing the words harris and/or clash:
“Agnosticism is a perfectly respectable and tenable philosophical position; it is not dogmatic and makes no pronouncements about the ultimate truths of the universe. It remains open to evidence and persuasion; lacking faith, it nevertheless does not deride faith. Atheism, on the other hand, is as unyielding and dogmatic about religious belief as true believers are about heathens. It tries to use reason to demolish a structure that is not built upon reason.”
—Sydney J. Harris (19171986)
“When I am finishing a picture I hold some God-made object up to ita rock, a flower, the branch of a tree or my handas a kind of final test. If the painting stands up beside a thing man cannot make, the painting is authentic. If theres a clash between the two, it is bad art.”
—Marc Chagall (18891985)
