Early Life and Education

Elliott was born on December 24, 1931 in Miami County, Kansas to Ellis Lucille and Harold Francis Elliott. He was raised in Drexel, Missouri and graduated from Drexel High School. Elliott received his bachelor's degree in physical education from Baker University in 1953 and later earned a master's degree in school administration from Wichita State University in 1963.

Elliott did not participate in football as a player, but did participate in basketball and track & field at Baker. In 1990, he was inducted into the Baker University Athletic Hall of Fame.
