The character, created by Jack Kirby, first appeared in The Eternals #9 (Mar 1977).
Within the context of the stories, Eson is the Celestial tasked with "seeking". Arriving with the Fourth Host, he observes first Florida then Lemuria. When the Deviants attack him, he destroys the island while probing it.
