Happy Valley Beijing - Happy Valley, Shanghai

Happy Valley, Shanghai

The fourth Happy Valley installation was in Songjiang, Shanghai. It opened on 16 August 2009. The park is approximately 40 kilometers (25 mi) from downtown Shanghai. It covers an area of 863,500 square metres (213.4 acres). Happy Valley contains seven themed areas including Sunshine Beach, Happy Times, Typhoon Bay, Gold Mine Town, Ant Kingdom, Shanghai Beach and Shangri-la Woods. There are more than 100 attractions in the park.

In the beginning of the park's operation, it was criticized for long waiting times and being potentially unsafe. Most of the rides were malfunctioning, the lines were exceedingly long, and many people were injured not only from riding the attractions, but from walking around the park. Three people were injured when a big sign board fell on top of them. Some notable rides are summarised in the table below.

Famous quotes containing the words happy and/or shanghai:

But you must know the class of sweet women—who are always so happy to declare “they have all the rights they want”; “they are perfectly willing to let their husbands vote for them”Mare and always have been numerous, though it is an occasion for thankfulness that they are becoming less so.
    Eliza “Mother” Stewart (1816–1908)

It took more than one man to change my name to Shanghai Lily.
