Commissioner of Football
Chandler was also a Commissioner of the short-lived Continental Football League. Chandler served as Commissioner from March 17, 1965 until January 20, 1966. After a legal dispute, he resigned, stating that the CFL had lied to him about the Commissioner's powers. He was replaced by Sol Rosen, who took over the reigns for the next two football seasons. The league ceased operations altogether in 1969.

“In this dream that dogs me I am part
Of a silent crowd walking under a wall,
Leaving a football match, perhaps, or a pit,
All moving the same way.”
