Haakon Lorentzen

Haakon Lorentzen (born 23 August 1954) is the son of Norwegian businessman Erling Sven Lorentzen (of the Lorentzen family) and Princess Ragnhild of Norway, the older sister of King Harald V and Princess Astrid of Norway.

Lorentzen is the oldest grandchild of King Olav V of Norway, and was born when his great-grandfather, King Haakon VII of Norway was still alive.

Lorentzen served in the military in Norway, and lived in Norway for a period during the 1980s.

He is a successful businessman in Brazil, director of the Grupo Lorentzen, accionists of Aracruz Celulose.

In Rio de Janeiro, on 14 April 1982, Lorentzen married Martha Carvalho de Freitas (born in Rio de Janeiro, 5 April 1958).

Their children are:

  • Olav Alexander Lorentzen (b. Rio de Janeiro, 11 July 1985).
  • Christian Frederik Lorentzen (b. Rio de Janeiro, 23 May 1988).
  • Sophia Anne Lorentzen (b. Rio de Janeiro, 28 June 1994).

While his children are in the line of succession for the British throne, Lorentzen himself is ineligible due to his marriage to a Roman Catholic.
