Gyeongbu High Speed Railway - Operation - Test Runs

Test Runs

The section from Cheonan to Daejeon, with Osong depot as operations base, was used for the commissioning of the KTX-I trains before the start of regular service. Following the start of regular service, test runs were concentrated into the night hours when no regular trains ran. At 1:24 am on December 16, 2004, the experimental train HSR-350x achieved the South Korean rail speed record of 352.4 km/h (219.0 mph) on the line.

Famous quotes containing the words test and/or runs:

    It is commonly said, and more particularly by Lord Shaftesbury, that ridicule is the best test of truth; for that it will not stick where it is not just. I deny it. A truth learned in a certain light, and attacked in certain words, by men of wit and humour, may, and often doth, become ridiculous, at least so far, that the truth is only remembered and repeated for the sake of the ridicule.
    Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)

    Some say existence like a Pirouot
    And Pirouette, forever in one place,
    Stands still and dances, but it runs away;
    It seriously, sadly, runs away
    To fill the abyss’s void with emptiness.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
