GWR Steam Rail Motors - Preservation

Preservation

No steam rail motors survived into preservation, however one of the carriage units which was converted into an autocoach is preserved at Didcot Railway Centre, where it has been rebuilt into its original form. Currently painted in the typical crimson lake livery used on GWR carriages in the Edwardian era, it is possible to ride on the railmotor on certain dates.

Famous quotes containing the word preservation:

The preservation of life seems to be rather a slogan than a genuine goal of the anti-abortion forces; what they want is control. Control over behavior: power over women. Women in the anti-choice movement want to share in male power over women, and do so by denying their own womanhood, their own rights and responsibilities.
    Ursula K. Le Guin (b. 1929)

Is not our role to stand for the one thing which means our own salvation here but with which it will also be possible to save the world, and with which Europe will be able to save itself, namely the preservation of the white man and his state?
    Hendrik Verwoerd (1901–1966)

The reason why men enter into society, is the preservation of their property; and the end why they choose and authorize a legislative, is, that there may be laws made, and rules set, as guards and fences to the properties of all the members of the society: to limit the power, and moderate the dominion, of every part and member of the society.
    John Locke (1632–1704)
