Acting
Guts has appeared in several movies, both inside and outside of Japan. Notables include Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun (1987) and Sir Ridley Scott's Black Rain (1989). He says the only reason he started acting was so that he could be on the screen with Ken Takakura, who was his childhood idol. He has also appeared in numerous TV dramas, and has occasionally attempted to write and direct movies of his own.
