Gurbachan Singh Salaria was from village Jangla near Dinanagar in Pathankot distt, Punjab. His father's name was Chaudhary Munshi Ram Salaria. He belongs to the community.

Note: It is not correct to say that captain Gurbachan Singh Salaria belonged to Saini Coomunity.The references given are not updated.Salarias are from Rajput Community. They had migrated from Central Uttrapradesh during exodus.The majority of the clan went to Bikaner (Rajasthan) while the others moved to foot hills in the north.They are also popularly known as Landh (One of the Parts) to Rathores. The Salarias are basically from district ,,SIALKOT (Now in Pakistan). King Salwan, a Salaria, was the Maharaja of SIALKOT. In SIALKOT district Salarias had 72 villages. During 1947 partition, SHAKARGARH Tehsil which was part of district Gurdaspur went to Pakistan and hence Salarias moved mostly in Tehsil Pathankot,now district Pathankot.It is thus that Captian Gurbachan Singh Salaria's ancestors moved from west Pakistan to village Jangla, Dina Nagar, district Pathankot.Even today most of Salarias are in district Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur and district Kathua of J & K and district Hamirpur of Himachal Pradesh.( As explained by Lt. Col K S Salaria, who migrated to village Jangla-Bhabani,near Dinanagar, Tehsil Pathankot during the Partition in 1947 along with Captain Gurbachan Singh Salaria.
