Additionally, the surname Gupta is adopted by some other communities in other parts of the Indian subcontinent:
- The Guptas from the West Bengal belong to the Vaid (physician) community, and are related to the Sengupta and Dasgupta communities of Bengal who are vaid-Brahmins.
- Telis also use the Gupta surname.
- Gomathis and Chettys (Andhra Pradesh) also use Guptha added along with a surname
- The lower cast migrants from the middle east also use Gupta who have their origin from Bihar.In Earlier times they were forced to do labor work and were treated like slaves so they started using Gupta to hide from the people. They only way they can be recognized is because of their language.They have a typical Bihari accent.
- Like Gomathis, who are of Dravidian descent, Kayasthas(Bengali vyshyas) also use the title Guptha.
