Many of the directors and staff of GPA subsequently went on to found or work for other aircraft lessors, such as GECAS, Genesis Lease, CIT, ILFC, Pembroke Capital, AerCap (formerly debisAirFinance), International Aircraft Management Group (now RBS Aviation Capital), Babcock & Brown (now Fly Leasing) and Aircastle. GPA's founder, Tony Ryan, set up his own airline, Ryanair, now Europe's biggest, carrying over 65 mn passengers annually.
