The song was performed by the Grand Children chorus of Central Television and Gosteleradio USSR as the theme song for the film. The composer Ye.Krylatov, words Yu.Entin (Sample (youtube)). The song's popularity soon separated from the miniseries and it became iconic in its own right; it was widely performed by various choirs and sung in everyday life.
