The suburb is close to SRM University and its group of institutions: (Valliammai Engineering College, SRM School of Management, SRM Medical College, SRM Hospital, Valliammai Polytechnic, SRM Polytechnic, SRM Institute of Hotel Management, SRM Arts and Science, SRM Pharmacy) which are located in Potheri, 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from Guduvancheri. It is becoming the largest residential area between Tambaram and Chengalpet because of the IT companies in and around Guduvancheri like Accenture, Ford, Mahindra World City and SEZ.
