Guayaquil Marathon

The Guayaquil Marathon, or Maratón de Guayaquil, is an annual marathon road race which takes place in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on the first Sunday of October.

The race, which was first held in 2005, draws a 1000 participants mostly from Ecuador, some runners from Colombia, Peru and Venezuela run every year.

The race starts 5:30 AM at the soccer stadium "Estadio Modelo Alberto Spencer", being the start also the finish point for 10K runners, Half Marathon runners and Full Marathon runners.

The course is 99% flat and visits many important spots of the city, featuring 9 de Octubre Avenue, the Malecón 2000, The Tunnels, the famous Barcelona Sporting Club Stadium, El Velero Bridge, the Victor Emilio Estrada Avenue, Urdesa, Kennedy Avenue, Orellana Avenue, Kennedy Norte neighborhood, Carlos Julio Arosemena Avenue and back to the Malecón del Salado.

The Guayaquil Marathon is hosted by the Guayaquil municipality and is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

DM3 is the sports marketing company in charge of the organization of the race.
