Since 1977 Austin Mitchell (Labour) has been the Member of Parliament for the Great Grimsby constituency. The constituency of Great Grimsby is considered a Labour stronghold although Austin Mitchell held the seat in both the 1983 and 2010 general elections with a majority of less than 800.
