Green Templeton College, Oxford
Green Templeton College (GTC) is a constituent college of the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. It is the university's newest college having come into existence on 1 October 2008 from the merger of Green College and Templeton College. The college is located on the previous Green College site on Woodstock Road in North Oxford and is centred around the architecturally splendid Radcliffe Observatory, an 18th-century building, modelled on the ancient Tower of the Winds at Athens. The college has formal ties with Green College, University of British Columbia, which similarly owes its inception to the generosity of Cecil H. Green.

Famous quotes containing the words green, templeton and/or oxford:
“There was an old man lived out in the wood,
His trade was a-cutting of Broom, green Broom;
He had but one son without thrift, without good,
Who lay in his bed till twas noon, bright noon.”
—Unknown. Broom, Green Broom (l. 14)
“Alls pathos now. The body that was gross,
Rank, ravenous, disgusting in the act or in repose,
All fever, filth and sweat, its bestial strength
And bestial decay, by pain and labour grows at length
Fragile and luminous.”
—Frank Templeton Prince (b. 1912)
“Christianity as an organized religion has not always had a harmonious relationship with the family. Unlike Judaism, it kept almost no rituals that took place in private homes. The esteem that monasticism and priestly celibacy enjoyed implied a denigration of marriage and parenthood.”
—Beatrice Gottlieb, U.S. historian. The Family in the Western World from the Black Death to the Industrial Age, ch. 12, Oxford University Press (1993)
