Greeks In New Zealand

There is a community of about 4,500 people of Greek descent in New Zealand.

Greek New Zealanders (Greek: Ελληνοζηλανδοί, Ellinozilandi) have a heavy concentration in Wellington, and to a lesser extent Christchurch and Auckland. Smaller communities of Greeks reside in Palmerston North, Wanganui, Dunedin, Hamilton and Napier.

Many Greek New Zealanders maintain their Greek identity through the observation of Greek customs and traditions, and their adherence to their Greek Orthodox (Christian) faith, whilst also assimilating into New Zealand society.

    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Teasing is universal. Anthropologists have found the same fundamental patterns of teasing among New Zealand aborigine children and inner-city kids on the playgrounds of Philadelphia.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)
