Ray Bradbury's 1969 short story "Downwind from Gettysburg" was inspired by Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. Also, the band Negativland used a modified version of the speech from the attraction in the song "God Bull" on their album No Business.
ABC's Modern Family Season 3 episode 22 aired May 9, 2012 and was titled "Disneyland." The episode closed with the family sitting together watching the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln production. Jay Pritchett (Ed O'Neill) reflects that watching this show with his kids while they were young, inspired him to try to make things work with his wife.
Bootlegged audio tapes of the attraction were modified by audio collage group Negativland to create the track "God Bull" off their 2005 album No Business.
DISCOGRAPHY:
In 1965, a record album, with pictures and text featured an expanded version with more speeches and narration, plus dramatic dialogue to the story. It included the "Gettysburg Address", "Lincoln-Douglass Debate", "Farewell to Springfield", "Letter to Fanny McCellan", and the ending of his Second Inaugural Address< as well as the instrumental section on the Civil War, complete with the sounds of gun shots and quotes from a few Civil War songs. This was originally released on Buena Vista Records. A few years later, this record was reissued on "Disneyland Records", but, without the introductory song "Illinois", due to personal licensing issues. Paul Frees did the voices for Stephen Douglass, as well as for Edward Everett.
