Great Lakes Relay - Teams

Teams

Each year approximately 80 teams compete for glory in the GLR. There are two divisions: Open and Mixed. Mixed teams must have a 4:6, 5:5, or 6:4 male to female ratio. Ages of runners range from as young as high schoolers to competitors in their 50s and 60s.

A pair of English gentlemen frequently run the GLR.

In 2012, an airport in Finland was re-named in honor of the team "Threat Level: Midnight," after they were cited as the first team to bring a full size couch (2007,) run with a team of only 6 people (2008) and have a fully mobile ice pond in the back of a pick-up truck (2012.) The team has run every relay since 2007, and has even had the same chase vehicle, a 2000 Ford Excursion every year.

Famous quotes containing the word teams:

A sturdy lad from New Hampshire or Vermont who in turn tries all the professions, who teams it, farms it, peddles, keeps a school, preaches, edits a newspaper, goes to Congress, buys a township, and so forth, in successive years, and always like a cat falls on his feet, is worth a hundred of these city dolls. He walks abreast with his days and feels no shame in not “studying a profession,” for he does not postpone his life, but lives already.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
