Grand Central Railway - Named Services

Named Services

Grand Central has given names to two trains on its Sunderland route. Contrary to tradition in British named train servics, these are not pairs but individual one-way trips. In the 2008 timetable, the name The Zephyr was given to the early morning (06:41) departure from Sunderland, while the teatime (15:50) train from London was called The 21st Century Limited. No mention of these was made in the 2012 timetable.

Famous quotes containing the words named and/or services:

Late in the afternoon, we rode through Brewster, so named after Elder Brewster, for fear he would be forgotten else. Who has not heard of Elder Brewster? Who knows who he was?
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

We now in the United States have more security guards for the rich than we have police services for the poor districts. If you’re looking for personal security, far better to move to the suburbs than to pay taxes in New York.
    John Kenneth Galbraith (b. 1908)
