Grand Bell Awards
The Grand Bell Awards (Korean: 대종상 영화제, daejongsang yeonghwajae) is an awards ceremony presented annually by The Motion Pictures Association of Korea for excellence in film in South Korea.
Though the festival has often been marred by controversy, stemming from bribery and political pressure, the Grand Bell Awards retain prestige as the oldest continuous film awards held in South Korea, and have been called the Korean equivalent of the American Academy Awards

Famous quotes containing the words grand and/or bell:
“They have their belief, these poor Tibet people, that Providence sends down always an Incarnation of Himself into every generation. At bottom some belief in a kind of pope! At bottom still better, a belief that there is a Greatest Man; that he is discoverable; that, once discovered, we ought to treat him with an obedience which knows no bounds. This is the truth of Grand Lamaism; the discoverability is the only error here.”
—Thomas Carlyle (17951881)
“I was thinking of a son.
The womb is not a clock
nor a bell tolling,
but in the eleventh month of its life
I feel the November
of the body as well as of the calendar.”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
