Grace Dieu Manor School - Sexual Abuse Scandal

Sexual Abuse Scandal

Victims of sexual abuse by former staff at the school are suing the Rosminian order, the owners of the school. The abuse was catalogued in the 2011 BBC documentary Abused: Breaking the Silence. The eleven men's claims span a period from 1952 to 1973. The current principal, Charles Foulds, has said that the incidents "have no relevance to the school of today" but also that "everyone here is very distressed that any child suffered in this place over half a century ago."

Famous quotes containing the words abuse and/or scandal:

The love of truth, virtue, and the happiness of mankind are specious pretexts, but not the inward principles that set divines at work; else why should they affect to abuse human reason, to disparage natural religion, to traduce the philosophers as they universally do?
    George Berkeley (1685–1753)

Gossip is charming! History is merely gossip. But scandal is gossip made tedious by morality.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
