Government of Taiwan - Examination Yuan

Examination Yuan

The Examination Yuan is in charge of validating the qualification of civil servants in the Republic of China. As a special branch of government under the Three Principles of the People, it may (retrospectively) be compared with the European Personnel Selection Office of the European Union or the Office of Personnel Management of the United States of America. The concept of the Examination Yuan is based on the old Imperial examination system used in Imperial China.

Famous quotes containing the word examination:

Whilst Marx turned the Hegelian dialectic outwards, making it an instrument with which he could interpret the facts of history and so arrive at an objective science which insists on the translation of theory into action, Kierkegaard, on the other hand, turned the same instruments inwards, for the examination of his own soul or psychology, arriving at a subjective philosophy which involved him in the deepest pessimism and despair of action.
    Sir Herbert Read (1893–1968)
