Chinese and Mexican Adaptations
On March 5, 2012, it was reported that Warner Bros. International Television and Metan Development Group would produce with two Chinese production companies a Chinese teen drama series inspired by Gossip Girl. Production is set to start in June with the show airing in November. The show will follow the lives of students at a university. A Mexican version of the series has been greenlit as well by Mexican producer Pedro Torres and will be titled Gossip Girl: Acapulco. The show will star SofĂa Sisniega, Oka Giner, Jon Ecker, Vadhir Derbez, Diego Amozurrutia, and Macarena Achaga . Filming of the Mexican adaptation began in January 2013 with the series set to air in July 2013. A demo of the series has been released.
