Outline
Gosei is a Go competition used by the Japanese Nihon Ki-in and Kansai Ki-in. It is one of the seven big titles in Japan, although it pays much less than the top three. The payout is only 7,700,000 Yen ($67,000) compared to the Kisei's payout, which is a large 42,000,000 Yen ($386,000). Gosei uses the same format as the other big seven. The winner of the knockout tournament faces the title holder in a best of five match. There is one restriction that the other titles don't have, and that is to be able to enter the Gosei tournament, you must be at least 5 dan.
The promotion rules are just like the Judan's. If the player gets to challenge the title holder, they are promoted to 7 dan. If that player wins the tournament, they are promoted to 8 dan. If they defend it for another year, they are promoted to 9 dan.

Famous quotes containing the word outline:
“I am fooling only myself when I say my mother exists now only in the photograph on my bulletin board or in the outline of my hand or in the armful of memories I still hold tight. She lives on in everything I do. Her presence influenced who I was, and her absence influences who I am. Our lives are shaped as much by those who leave us as they are by those who stay. Loss is our legacy. Insight is our gift. Memory is our guide.”
—Hope Edelman (20th century)
“The outline of the city became frantic in its effort to explain something that defied meaning. Power seemed to have outgrown its servitude and to have asserted its freedom. The cylinder had exploded, and thrown great masses of stone and steam against the sky.”
—Henry Brooks Adams (18381918)
“The beginning of an acquaintance whether with persons or things is to get a definite outline of our ignorance.”
—George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)
