Gonville Bromhead - Film Portrayal

Film Portrayal

In the 1964 film Zulu, Bromhead was played by Michael Caine. Early in the film, he is portrayed as the stereotypical British Aristocratic officer, at times seemingly aloof and looking down on those of a lower social standing, particularly the Africans. Once the Battle begins, however, he displays great courage and tactical thinking, and is willing to listen to the opinions of others.

Famous quotes containing the words film and/or portrayal:

You should look straight at a film; that’s the only way to see one. Film is not the art of scholars but of illiterates.
    Werner Herzog (b. 1942)

From the oyster to the eagle, from the swine to the tiger, all animals are to be found in men and each of them exists in some man, sometimes several at the time. Animals are nothing but the portrayal of our virtues and vices made manifest to our eyes, the visible reflections of our souls. God displays them to us to give us food for thought.
    Victor Hugo (1802–1885)
