Art

Bhavbhuti was an 8th century scholar of India noted for his plays and poetry, written in Sanskrit. His plays are considered equivalent to the works of Kalidas. Bhavbhuti was born in a Deshastha Brahmin family of Padmapura (Amgaon), Vidarbha, Central India, in the Gondia district. Bhavabhuti Maha Vidyalya, one of the famous places in the Gondia District, has been given the name in the honour of Bhavbhuti.

Famous quotes containing the word art:

    We marry
A gentler scion to the wildest stock,
And make conceive a bark of baser kind
By bud of nobler race. This is an art
Which does mend nature—change it rather; but
    The art itself is nature.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

A primary function of art and thought is to liberate the individual from the tyranny of his culture in the environmental sense and to permit him to stand beyond it in an autonomy of perception and judgment.
    Lionel Trilling (1905–1975)

War was return of earth to ugly earth,
    War was foundering of sublimities,
Extinction of each happy art and faith
By which the world had still kept head in air.
    Robert Graves (1895–1985)
