Attraction History
In August 2005, Six Flags Over Georgia announced it was closing down its long-standing Great Gasp attraction, as well as its lesser-known Looping Starship, to make way for a future attraction. Goliath was first hinted at in a teaser flier sent to media outlets, with the official announcement made September 1, 2005.
Construction began in earnest after the removal of the two closed attractions, with the main structure completed in early 2006. After testing and media previews, Goliath debuted to the public on April 1, 2006.

Famous quotes containing the words attraction and/or history:
“We should omit a main attraction in these books, if we said nothing of their humor. Of this indispensable pledge of sanity, without some leaven of which the abstruse thinker may justly be suspected of mysticism, fanaticism, or insanity, there is a superabundance in Carlyle.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“When the history of this period is written, [William Jennings] Bryan will stand out as one of the most remarkable men of his generation and one of the biggest political men of our country.”
—William Howard Taft (18571930)
