Golden Jackal - Range

Range

In Africa, golden jackals are widespread in the north and northeastern portions of the continent, being present from Senegal on Africa's west coast to Egypt in the East. This range includes Morocco, Algeria, and Libya in the north to Nigeria, Chad and Tanzania in the south. They also occur in the Arabian Peninsula, and have a patchy distribution in Europe. In their European range, jackals are found in the Balkans, Hungary, and southwestern Ukraine. They are found also in Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, and northeastern Italy (Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto), where their distribution has recently increased, encompassing also the region Trentino Alto Adige. To the east, their range includes Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent, then east and south to Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, and parts of Indochina.

Famous quotes containing the word range:

Narrowed-down by her early editors and anthologists, reduced to quaintness or spinsterish oddity by many of her commentators, sentimentalized, fallen-in-love with like some gnomic Garbo, still unread in the breadth and depth of her full range of work, she was, and is, a wonder to me when I try to imagine myself into that mind.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

Lord Bateman prepared for another marriage,
So both their hearts so full of glee.
‘I will range no more to foreign countries
Now since Sophia have a-crossed the sea.’
    Unknown. Young Beichan (l. 81–84)

As to spelling the very frequent word though with six letters instead of two, it is impossible to discuss it, as it is outside the range of common sanity. In comparison such a monstrosity as phlegm for flem is merely disgusting.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
