The Golden Bear is an ISU annual international figure skating competition held in Zagreb, Croatia. Skaters compete in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies singles, pair skating, and ice dancing, although, some years, not every discipline is included in the program.
It is the equivalent of the Golden Spin of Zagreb for Junior and Novice skaters, as well as skaters below the Novice level (Cubs and Chicks). It has been held since 1986.
Famous quotes containing the words golden and/or bear:
“As I have known them passionate and fine,
The gold for which they leave the golden line
Of lyric is a golden light divine,
Never the gold of darkness from a mine.”
—Robert Frost (1874–1963)
“I had some short struggle in my mind whether I should resign my lover or my liberty, but this lasted not long. I found myself as free as air and could not bear the thought of putting myself in any man’s power for life only from a present capricious inclination.”
—Sarah Fielding (1710–1768)
