A Celtic Landscape
The Glauberg is not isolated within its time and area, although it is the most northeasterly site of its type known at present. But several other important Celtic population centres or oppida are known from the Rhein-Main Region and Central Hesse. Two important fortifications, those at Dünsberg near Giessen and on Feldberg Taunus mountains are visible from Glauberg. Other important sites include the Heidetränk-Oppidum near Oberursel-Oberstedten (one of the largest urban settlements in Celtic Europe), and the Celtic salt industry at Bad Nauheim.
