Giorgio Borg Olivier - Death

Death

His funeral was followed by thousands who went to Valletta to pay their last tributes. This marked a new era for the Nationalist Party which at the time was the Opposition party. A monument in honour of George Borg Olivier was erected in Castille Square, Valletta in 1989, as part of the events commemorating the 25th anniversary of Independence.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

We all labour against our own cure, for death is the cure of all diseases.
    Thomas Browne (1605–1682)

Life springs from death and from the graves of patriot men and women spring living nations.... They think that they have pacified Ireland. They think that they have purchased half of us and intimidated the other half. They think that they have foreseen everything, think they have provided against everything; but the fools, the fools, the fools, they have left us our Fenian dead, and while Ireland holds these graves Ireland unfree shall never be at peace.
    Patrick Henry Pearse (1879–1916)

It is better to sit down than to stand, it is better to lie down than to sit, but death is the best of all.
Indian proverb, quoted in Sébastien-roch Nicolas de Chamfort, Maxims and Considerations, vol. 1, no. 155 (1796, trans. 1926)
