History
Established in 1974 as International Contract Specialists, the club changed its name to the famed Geylang International in 1975 before changing again, its name to Geylang United in 1996 when the S.League was first established.
The club won back-to-back titles in the National Football League from 1975 to 1977, and then, another six back-to-back titles in the Premier League from 1988 to 1993.
In the first S.League in 1996, Geylang won the first series title, and then beat SAF FC in the championship final, earning the praise from former SAF FC coach that 'Geylang United is the Manchester United of Singapore'.
Geylang United won their next league title in 2001 before winning the RHB Singapore Cup in 2009 by beating Bangkok Glass FC in the cup final.
Famous players who plyed their trade for the club included former Iranian Internationals, Hamid Estili (1996), Mohammad Khakpour (1996), Singapore Golden Boy Fandi Ahmad (1996), and many other former Singapore footballing legends.
Two weeks before the start of the 2012 S.League season, former Singapore international Leong Kok Fann took over as the chairman of Geylang United, replacing the out-going Patrick Ang.
As of 13/3/2012, two days after their 7-1 humiliation at the hands of Home United, Coach Mike Wong was replaced by Geylang United Prime League Coach Kanan Vedhamuthu with immediate effect.
