Gerbera Jamesoni
The Barberton daisy (Gerbera jamesonii) is a member of the Gerbera genus. It is also known as the Transvaal daisy and as Barbertonse madeliefie in Afrikaans.
The Gerbera daisy is perennial and reproduces asexually. Gerbera is also commonly known as the African Daisy.
The Barberton daisy was discovered in Barberton, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa (1889) by Robert Jameson. It was the first species of Gerbera to be the subject of a scientific description, studied by J.D. Hooker in Curtis's Botanical Magazine in 1889.
