Early Life
Gerald MacIntosh Johnston was born on October 1, 1904 in Winnipeg, Canada to James Macintosh Johnston and Clare Maud Mckay Johnston. He attended St. John's College before relocating to New York City in the United States in 1923. Johnston lived with his parents in New York, where he worked as a commercial model and in a stock company. Johnston had two uncles in Scotland.
