Georgia's Congressional Districts
After the 2000 Census, the State of Georgia was divided into 13 Congressional Districts, increasing from 11 due to reapportionment. The state was redistricted again in 2005, although the number of districts remained thirteen. Redistricting has occurred since this time and the following maps are therefore inaccurate. Famous quotes containing the words georgia and/or districts:
“I am perhaps being a bit facetious but if some of my good Baptist brethren in Georgia had done a little preaching from the pulpit against the K.K.K. in the 20s, I would have a little more genuine American respect for their Christianity!”
—Franklin D. Roosevelt (18821945)
“Cities need old buildings so badly it is probably impossible for vigorous streets and districts to grow without them.... for really new ideas of any kindno matter how ultimately profitable or otherwise successful some of them might prove to bethere is no leeway for such chancy trial, error and experimentation in the high-overhead economy of new construction. Old ideas can sometimes use new buildings. New ideas must use old buildings.”
—Jane Jacobs (b. 1916)
