George Parkman

George Parkman (February 19, 1790 – November 23, 1849), a Boston Brahmin (a term not actually coined by Parkman contemporary Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. until 1860, after Parkman’s death), belonged to one of Boston's richest families. He was a murder victim in a highly publicized case that shook the city of Boston to its core in 1849–1850, due to the gruesome nature of the crime and the high social station of both the victim and the murderer.
