Geodesic (general Relativity) - Coordinate Time

Coordinate Time

So far the geodesic equation of motion has been written in terms of proper time, s. It can also be written in terms of the time coordinate, . The equation then becomes:

x''_a(t) = \left(\Gamma^{bc}_a-x'_a(t)\Gamma^{bc}_0\right)x_b'(t)x_c'(t)

This can be useful for commuter calculations and to compare General Relativity with Newtonian Gravity.

Famous quotes containing the word time:

Ah! my friend, for whomever is alone, without a god and without a master, the weight of time is terrible. One must then choose a master, God being out of style.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)
