Gee (Girls' Generation Song)
"Gee" is the lead single from the album Gee by K-pop girl group Girls' Generation. It was released on online music sites on January 5, 2009, with the physical release of the EP on January 7. It quickly went to #1 on various charts and eventually set a record for being #1 on KBS's music chart show Music Bank for 9 consecutive weeks.
The music video for "Gee" was the most viewed K-pop video on YouTube from September 2011 to September 1, 2012, after surpassing a live performance of "Nobody" by Wonder Girls and until being in its turn surpassed by "Gangnam Style" by Psy. As of May 1 2013, "Gee" has gained over 101 million views on YouTube.
"Dancing Queen" was supposed to be the group's lead single/title track for their first Korean EP but due to its last minute copyright issues, the song was replaced by "Gee". "Dancing Queen" was later released as single on their fourth Korean album "I Got a Boy" on January 1, 2013.

Famous quotes containing the words gee and/or generation:
“in every language even deafanddumb
thy sons acclaim your glorious name by gorry
by jing by gee by gosh by gum”
—E.E. (Edward Estlin)
“Where do whites fit in the New Africa? Nowhere, Im inclined to say ... and I do believe that it is true that even the gentlest and most westernised Africans would like the emotional idea of the continent entirely without the complication of the presence of the white man for a generation or two. But nowhere, as an answer for us whites, is in the same category as remarks like Whats the use of living? in the face of the threat of atomic radiation. We are living; we are in Africa.”
—Nadine Gordimer (b. 1923)
