Gay World Series

The North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance, or NAGAAA, is a non-profit, international association of gay and lesbian softball leagues.

NAGAAA was founded in 1977 and the first elected Commissioner was Warren Shepell, from Toronto, Canada and currently has 44 member leagues in the United States and Canada. Teams representing these leagues participate in the NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series (GSWS), hosted each year in a different member city. The 2012 Gay Softball World Series is being hosted by Twin Cities Goodtimes Softball League in Minneapolis, August 13-18, 2012.

NAGAAA has five divisions of play, from the competitive A rank through B, C and D teams, plus a Masters Division for players age 50 and above.

In 2011, NAGAAA changed its policy to include bisexual and transgender players.

Famous quotes containing the words gay, world and/or series:

Fill it up. I take as large draughts of liquor as I did of love. I hate a flincher in either.
    —John Gay (1685–1732)

The blind conviction that we have to do something about other people’s reproductive behaviour, and that we may have to do it whether they like it or not, derives from the assumption that the world belongs to us, who have so expertly depleted its resources, rather than to them, who have not.
    Germaine Greer (b. 1939)

As Cuvier could correctly describe a whole animal by the contemplation of a single bone, so the observer who has thoroughly understood one link in a series of incidents should be able to accurately state all the other ones, both before and after.
    Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930)
