Availability
Prior to the launch of Apple's Mac App Store, GarageBand was only available as a part of iLife, a suite of applications (also including iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and iWeb) intended to simplify the creation and organization of digital content. On January 6, 2011, GarageBand was made available independently on the Mac App Store in addition to most of the other applications in the suite.
