Game Maker Language - Manual

Manual

The manual that accompanies Game Maker is a document that has information on all the built-in functions and variables available in Game Maker, with the exception of action functions (the direct GML equivalents to drag-and-drop actions), and deprecated variables and functions left in for backward compatibility, such as image_scale, which has been succeeded by image_xscale and image_yscale.

A notable example of a deprecated variable is image_single, which when changed to a sprite's subimage, will set image_speed to zero automatically, as well as setting image_index to the value image_single is set to.

Famous quotes containing the word manual:

A great deal of unnecessary worry is indulged in by theatregoers trying to understand what Bernard Shaw means. They are not satisfied to listen to a pleasantly written scene in which three or four clever people say clever things, but they need to purse their lips and scowl a little and debate as to whether Shaw meant the lines to be an attack on monogamy as an institution or a plea for manual training in the public school system.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)

If the accumulated wealth of the past generations is thus tainted,—no matter how much of it is offered to us,—we must begin to consider if it were not the nobler part to renounce it, and to put ourselves in primary relations with the soil and nature, and abstaining from whatever is dishonest and unclean, to take each of us bravely his part, with his own hands, in the manual labor of the world.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Criticism is infested with the cant of materialism, which assumes that manual skill and activity is the first merit of all men, and disparages such as say and do not, overlooking the fact, that some men, namely, poets, are natural sayers, sent into the world to the end of expression, and confounds them with those whose province is action, but who quit to imitate the sayers.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
