Galloway Township Middle School - Academics

Academics

GTMS is commonly known for its excellent academic performances in state wide tests.

Here's a look into the student body. It is divided into "teams". There are four teams for each grade. Each of the teams has two teachers for Language Arts and one teacher for each of the other core subjects: history, mathematics, and science. Students remain in their teams hallway for all class periods with the exception of physical education and electives.

Each team has a specific name that corresponds with the letter that represents the team. The team names variate each school year. The newly formed teams decide what they are to be addressed as in the beginning of each year. Starting the new school year of 2013 there will be only three teams in each grade, due to shortness of students.

The current names are as follows:

Seventh Grade Teams:

  • A- Allstars
  • B- Blizzards
  • C- Cubs
  • D- Dream Team (Former Team 2000-2012)

Eighth Grade Teams:

  • E- Extreme
  • F- Flamingos
  • G- Geckos
  • H- The Heat (Former Team 2000-2012)

Famous quotes containing the word academics:

Our first line of defense in raising children with values is modeling good behavior ourselves. This is critical. How will our kids learn tolerance for others if our hearts are filled with hate? Learn compassion if we are indifferent? Perceive academics as important if soccer practice is a higher priority than homework?
    Fred G. Gosman (20th century)

Almost all scholarly research carries practical and political implications. Better that we should spell these out ourselves than leave that task to people with a vested interest in stressing only some of the implications and falsifying others. The idea that academics should remain “above the fray” only gives ideologues license to misuse our work.
    Stephanie Coontz (b. 1944)
