G (New York City Subway Service)

The G Brooklyn–Queens Crosstown Local is a rapid transit service of the New York City Subway. It is the only full-time non-shuttle service that does not enter Manhattan. It is colored lime green on route signs, station signs, and the official subway map, since it runs on the IND Crosstown Line.

The G operates between Court Square in Long Island City, Queens and Church Avenue in Kensington, Brooklyn via the IND Crosstown and Culver Lines. It only serves two stations in Queens (Court Square and 21st Street), but previously served all stations to/from 71st Avenue in Forest Hills, Queens on the IND Queens Boulevard Line.

Famous quotes containing the words york, city and/or subway:

Half the testimony in the Bobbitt case sounded like Sally Jesse Raphael. Juries watch programs like this and are ready to listen.
William Geimer, U.S. law educator. New York Times, p. B18 (January 28, 1994)

“Why visit the playhouse to see the famous Parisian models, ... when one can see the French damsels, Norma and Diana? Their names have been known on both continents, because everything goes as it will, and those that cannot be satisfied with these must surely be of a queer nature.”
—For the City of New Orleans, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

In New York—whose subway trains in particular have been “tattooed” with a brio and an energy to put our own rude practitioners to shame—not an inch of free space is spared except that of advertisements.... Even the most chronically dispossessed appear prepared to endorse the legitimacy of the “haves.”
