The New Zealand Bill of Rights Act, adopted in 1990, also recognizes the importance of fundamental justice. Specifically, section 8 of the Act, which enshrines the right to life, states in full that "No one shall be deprived of life except on such grounds as are established by law and are consistent with the principles of fundamental justice."
