Friends of The Western Buddhist Order - Name Change

Name Change

In the spring of 2010, the movement's name was changed from Friends of the Western Buddhist Order to Triratna Buddhist Community (which approximates in English to the name used in India - Triratna Bauddha Mahasangha). This followed the movements development in India and other countries, where it was claimed that the word "western" was no longer appropriate. An official history acknowledges this to have been controversial among some Order members. ("Triratna", Sanskrit term meaning Three Jewels)

Famous quotes containing the word change:

    Lord Angelo is precise,
Stands at a guard with envy, scarce confesses
That his blood flows, or that his appetite
Is more to bread than stone. Hence shall we see
If power change purpose, what our seemers be.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

The more I read and the more I talked to other parents of children with disabilities and normal children, the more I found that feelings and emotions about children are very much the same in all families. The accident of illness or disability serves only to intensify feelings and emotions, not to change them.
    Judith Weatherly (20th century)
