Fresno State Bulldogs

The Fresno State Bulldogs represent California State University, Fresno (commonly referred to as Fresno State) in 19 NCAA Division I sports. The teams will be members of the Mountain West Conference, starting at the 2012-13 season. Before that, it had been a member of the Western Athletic Conference since the 1992-93. Fresno State had also been a member of the Big West Conference since the 1969-70 (the conference was known as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association at that time until 1988). Fresno State was also a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association from its beginning in the 1939-40 season (when Fresno State was in NCAA Division II).

On August 18, 2010, it was announced that Fresno State, alongside fellow WAC member Nevada, would accept an offer to move to the Mountain West Conference. Fresno State and Nevada made the move, effectively on July 1, 2012.

The university has won two NCAA DI Championships in both Softball (1998) and Baseball (2008).

Famous quotes containing the word state:

Fashion required the suppression of all naturalness—’to walk upright, with unbending joints; to shake hands after the pump- handle formula; to look inexpressibly indifferent towards everybody and everything; and speak only in a mincing voice was to be a decorous member of society.’
