French Ship Vengeur

Seven ships of the French Navy have borne the name Vengeur ("Avenger"):

  • Vengeur (1765-1785), a 64-gun ship of the line, that saw action with Bailli de Suffren during the American War of Independence.

  • Vengeur (1794), a 20-gun corvette
  • Vengeur (1799), a 8-gun schooner
  • Vengeur (1803-1806), a 120-gun Océan class ship of the line
  • Vengeur (1872-1905), an armoured coast guard
  • Vengeur, a Monitor type ironclad of 1882.
  • Vengeur (Q137) (1931-1942), a Redoutable class submarine, eventually scuttled with the Toulon fleet in 1942
