Fredericton Society of St. Andrew Pipe Band - Junior Band and Academy

Junior Band and Academy

Established in 1985, the Fredericton Junior Pipe Band and Academy has been instructing local youth and adults in the art of bagpiping and drumming. Since that time, it has produced hundreds of pipers and drummers from throughout New Brunswick, who still remain with the organization or have since moved on to other provinces and bands. This teaching program has worked so well that it has been mirrored by a number of other bands.

The academy fields a competitive Grade 5 band.

Lessons are conducted at Nashwaaksis Middle School (Fredericton North) on Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. from September through May.

Famous quotes containing the words junior, band and/or academy:

Never burn bridges. Today’s junior prick, tomorrow’s senior partner.
Kevin Wade, U.S. screenwriter, and Mike Nichols. Katharine Parker (Sigourney Weaver)

What passes for identity in America is a series of myths about one’s heroic ancestors. It’s astounding to me, for example, that so many people really seem to believe that the country was founded by a band of heroes who wanted to be free. That happens not to be true. What happened was that some people left Europe because they couldn’t stay there any longer and had to go someplace else to make it. They were hungry, they were poor, they were convicts.
    James Baldwin (1924–1987)

When the State wishes to endow an academy or university, it grants it a tract of forest land: one saw represents an academy, a gang, a university.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
